Waterloo police make robbery arrest

WATERLOO – On September 21, 2013 at approximately 3:16 AM, Waterloo Police were dispatched to 729 Riehl Street.  A woman reported that a man with a gun approached her vehicle in the parking lot of the Kwik Star, 707 Broadway Avenue, and demanded a ride.  The subject got in the victims vehicle and had her drive him to the area of Oak Street where he got out of the car after taking the woman’s purse and contents.

The Waterloo Police Department and Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers asked for the public’s help in identifying a male reference this robbery.  Thanks to a tip, the male was identified as Brandon Dewielde Tate, age 47, of 309 Wendell Court, Waterloo.

On 10-2-2013 the Waterloo Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team located and arrested Tate for 1st Degree Robbery.  Tate was later transported to the Black Hawk County Jail and booked in on the Robbery charge as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack/cocaine) 3rd Offense and Providing False Identification Information.
