MASON CITY – A Mason City man was in jail this weekend after allegedly committing more than one assault on a woman over the course of more than one day.
Police said Monday that Joseph Bryan Tapp, 29, was charged with felony D domestic assault/strangulation after a female who turned out to be Tapp’s girlfriend reported to police that Tapp had assaulted her.
The female made the report on August 23rd, and after an investigation, police began looking for Tapp, who turned himself in to Mason City Police on August 25th; he was arrested that morning at 8:49 AM.
Police confirmed that “more than one alleged assault incident over a couple days” took place between Tapp and the victim.
Via Facebook Monday morning, Joseph Tapp said of the incident: “You know what all you people need to shut up cause the only people that know what happened are me and her. And to think that it’s always the man’s falut yeah right I don’t think so!!! So why don’t you check yourself and know that men aren’t always the bad people in relationships!”
Tapp went on to say that “there is two sides to every story and just cause people think one thing doesnt mean s***!!!”

SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
ik them both and ik that she is crazy and a gold digger and do whatever in her power to f**k ppl over … i feel bad for joe. ut then again i warned him about her
Totally innocent and ran from the police for 2 day…….
Who said he was totally innocent? All I said is there is two sides to this. Also, he didn’t run from the police. Read what it says…it says it happened over the course of two days (the incidents) and after the police were looking for him he turned himself in. How does that sound like he ran??? Do you actually know anything about these two? Can you read? Or are you just looking to say something stupid.
Good comments LVS. I know this young man and I know his sister. What isn’t told in this story is the fact that the girlfriend 1st held a knife to his troat. That is why he reacted the way he did. This was told to the MCPD but they did nothing about it. Now he has to hire an attorney and go thru all the BS involved to make the truth be known. I don’t condone violence of any kind but there is always two sides to every story. She should be held accoutable for her actions and he should be held accountable for his. This is a case of it isn’t what it sounds like from who was charged with what. There is proof as she admitted to his sister that she held the knife to his throat and while she admitted it, his sister was on the phone to her boyfriend and he heard the admission. It’s a sad deal as there is much more to this than just what you hear here. I can only hope that the truth is heard by the county attorney and the MCPD and she is charged for her actions. They both should be held accountable for what they each are guilty of. Fair is fair and justice is justice.
@Dave-I hope it works out, but if it is like the young man I know it will make no difference. They assume the guy is in the wrong and that is that.
Why don’t we wait and see what really happened before we go after the guy? I know a young guy that was set up by his wife. He did everything right. Had pictures showing she attacked him and everything. He was still crucified in the courts. Iowa has laws that favor the women no matter what happened.
FROM NIT STAFF: PLEASE CLEAN UP THE COMMENTS. THANK YOU.
I know exactly what you are saying, women just don’t know when to shut up. Say what you need to say to him and leave it at that. Bitching at him over and over and over isn’t something that I guy can take. If it doesn’t get worked out, you should leave him. Now on the other hand, if this is what happened, you should have walked away from her. Because you still don’t have the right to physically assault your girl friend/wife, that will land you in jail, as you well know. In most cases, it doesn’t take a very tough guy to beat up a girl, shame on you. Maybe you should join WWF or MMA, that might help with your anger/aggression and let you know what it feels like getting slapped around by a superior power.
Just another example of why kids should stay in school.
Yea but lets not fund the schools
steve – Funding the schools won’t help. If the kids wanted to learn, they would. They have the classrooms, books, and teachers. All they’re lacking is the desire, and no matter how much money is put into the school system, that’s the deciding factor, and that isn’t going to change.
