DES MOINES – The Des Moines Register reported today that during an editorial board meeting with out-going Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, he told them that a “southern senator” had referred to President Barack Obama as “exotic”.
According to the Register, Harkin and a group of Senators had gone behind closed doors to meet and no press or staff was present.
“It was very interesting,” Harkin told the Register.
“And, not naming any names,” Harkin continued, “but one senator got up from a Southern state and said, ‘You’ve got to understand that to my people down here, Obama seems like -– he thought for a second and he said -– like he’s exotic.’
Harkin told the Register that he and others at the meeting were somewhat confused by the Senator’s description of the President.
“We kind of laughed at that –- what’s that mean? Exotic? That he’s just exotic, that he doesn’t share our values and that kind of thing. It was kind of a strange comment. Everybody just kind of laughed at the idea of exotic.”

Trying to erect a comparison with Bush to Obama is silly and without merit. Obama appears to have enhanced much of the in-country security apparatus Bush put in place following 9/11. He may well have used the IRS to harass groups that he feels are not in his camp. CNN is now reporting CIA personnel in Libya may have been directed to rounds up arms and ship them to rebels in Syria – where now foreign Islamic groups are surfacing as well.
You have confused the non-stop drum beat of the MSM towards Bush as fact. Since before first election they have carried water for Obama – only now are they starting to draw back as more and more of Obama’s crap is surfacing.
My memory and common sense are well intact.

Why would a President want to be known, for the country under his watch, needing more food stamps than any President in history. Obama the food stamp president. Nothing to be proud of but he and his administration keeps pushing them. A Country, so poor under his watch….do you ever read about it this way? What a poor excuse of…………
What about black senator Charlie Rangle calling anyone in the tea party movement white crackers. The difference is whites don’t cry and riot every time something stupid is said. Obama played the wealth card to win the deadbeat vote and get elected and now is playing the race card. Worst president ever.

President Obama is out of touch. He was being kind.
Had nothing to do with race.
It had and has everything to do with President Obama’s unrealistic agenda. Our President’s agenda has been holding this country back from achieving real progress.
