As prize for her win, Echeverria was awarded a solo exhibition in the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Center Space Gallery. After receiving an endorsement in gifted education she worked in the Expanded Learning Program, retiring in 2008 after 33 years of teaching. She currently resides in Cedar Falls, IA.

“I am interested in patterns, shapes and colors – watching how they support one another. Looking at things both up close and from a distance, I delineate and secure areas, intensifying color, texture and pattern while bending and fracturing spaces to open up new ones.”

Admission to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is free. Museum hours are Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with extended evening hours on Tuesday & Thursday until 8 p.m. Closed Sunday – Monday.
