MASON CITY – City Council candidate Jody Draper asked the Mason City School Board Monday night to re-consider proposed cuts to coaching positions.
Draper told the story of a young man whom her family helped get to and from athletic practices. She said the young man was influenced in a positive way by his coaches and that they were instrumental in his development.
“He was able to do that because he had a coach, he had a teacher, he had assistant coaches that had the time to see him, to hear him, and to reach him, to start out on a different road.
The school board voted to dismiss all the coaching cuts brought forward by the administration.
