MASON CITY, IA — Just in time for Mother’s Day gifts and spring planting, the annual Mason City Friends of the Library Geranium Sale will be held at Southbridge Mall on Saturday, May 4. Hours are from 9 a.m. until sold out. Buyers who purchase five plants at $5 each will receive a sixth plant free. Each additional purchase of five plants also brings a sixth plant free.
The healthy geraniums are grown from cuttings by Stillwater Greenhouse and are offered in several bright colors – white, pink, red, salmon, and two-tone splashes. The hardy plants bloom well both indoors and out, and make delightful, long-lasting Mother’s Day gifts and plantings for yard and deck. Plants pre-ordered in March will be available for pick-up at the library building’s Mason City Room, at the west end of the building, from noon through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
New this year, plants will also be for sale during the pre-order pick-up time, so buyers who can’t make it to Southbridge Mall have the chance to get these great geraniums too.
The Mason City Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization that supports the Public Library’s mission and activities financially and by strengthening public awareness and use of the library. Funds raised through the geranium sale and through membership dues are used to fund children’s and adult’s summer reading programs, summer music programs, and other selected activities.
