MIAMI, March 31 (UPI) — Miami police say a man accused of human trafficking arranged to have his nickname tattooed on an eyelid of a 13-year-old girl who threatened to leave him.

Roman Thomas III, 26, was arrested with Shanteria Sanders, 23. Both were charged with human trafficking, false imprisonment, lewd and lascivious exhibition and delivery of a controlled substance to a child, The Miami Herald reported Friday.

Miami police said Thomas met the unidentified 13-year-old runaway at a flea market and persuaded her to become a prostitute after plying her with liquor, marijuana and amphetamines.

When she threatened to leave him after an argument over missing money, weeks later, she was taken to a tattoo artist, who wrote “Suave,” Thomas’ nickname, on her right eyelid and “House” on the left, implying she was one of Thomas’ flock of prostitutes, the arrest warrant said.

“It’s outrageous that this girl would be branded for life at such an early age, on, of all places, her eyelids,” said Miami police Lt. Jose Alfonso, an investigator in the case.

Thomas will be formally charged in the case April 13, the newspaper said.
