Harkin Announces More than $166,000 in Economic Development for Iowa

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) last week announced that three council of governments in Iowa have received a total of $166,500 from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to provide continued support for their economic development planning within their regions. Harkin is a senior member of the Appropriations Committee that funds these initiatives.

“I hope this funding will help these Council of Governments continue their economic development efforts, giving a boost their communities,” Harkin said.

Details of the funding follow:

– Mid-Iowa Development Association Council of Governments: $54,900 to serve Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster, and Wright counties

– Region XII Council of Governments: 54,900 to serve Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Greene, Guthrie, and Sac counties

– Southern Iowa Council of Governments, Inc.: $56,700 to serve Adair, Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union counties
