Mason City had a chance to win the lotto with bringing the casino to North Iowa but all of the conservative cronies in Cerro Gordo County said we shouldn’t bring “that type” of business to our area. People aren’t open to something new and now complain and moan that schools are trying to raise money for operating costs when the State has been slashing money to schools right and left. Instead of the sarcasm and jabs like the rest of the whiners, why don’t you become part of the solution.

@Ben-I think you are mistaken when you blame all conservatives for not bringing a casino into “Cerro Gordo” county. I know several conservatives (myself included) that were very much in favor of bringing the casino here. I think what you really meant was the religious element of the area. The churches pounded the pulpit about the evils of a casino and now wish they had favored it when they see all the money going somewhere else. Mostly they spend their Saturdays in Worth County and their Sundays crying about all the money we lost. It happens every time the churches get involved.
