MASON CITY – North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Student Senate sponsored a Coat Drive on campus from December 3 to 7, with all items and monetary donations collected and donated to North Iowa
Community Action Organization to distribute to anyone in need of proper winter wear.
Students were also at Hy-Vee East, Fareway, and Hy-Vee West on Wednesday, December 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., standing ‘Coatless in the Cold’ in t-shirts and shorts to collect donations. “It was a great way to raise awareness for the need of winter attire in North Iowa,” said Abbey Hall, Information Officer for the NIACC Student Senate.
“North Iowa is a very giving community, we are appreciative of all the support we receive throughout the year with our projects,” Hall said. A total of 207 coats, 34 hats, 27 pairs of gloves, 31 scarves, 3 pairs of snow boots, a pair of snow pants, and $543.44 were collected.
Good job NIACC student Senate! You are the people that make us proud to live here.
