School Superintendent Anita Micich presents Dan Drefke with Mohawk ball caps as a thank you for the work Story Construction did in renovating schools in Mason City.

MASON CITY – Construction continues on the Mason City High School building.

John Adams Middle School is mostly complete.

Project Superintendent Dan Drefke of Story Construction provided the Mason City School Board with an overview of the John Adams Middle School/Mason City High School complex construction project.

The board thanked Drefke for completing the project “at or below budget.”  Superintendent Anita Micich told Drefke “you will always be a Mohawk” and presented him with a Mohawk ball cap.

“It’s been a great project.  Definitely unique,” Drefke said.

The High School is the last portion of the project and should be completed before the start of the 2013-2014 school year.  Currently, most of the building cannot be used due to construction, and high schoolers use the John Adams Middle School building.  Seventh graders attend school at Madison Elementary building and eighth graders attend class in  portable buildings near Mohawk Stadium.
