Iowa State Patrol rammed Travis Bailey’s pickup truck in order to bring him to a stop, on Mason City’s west side late Thursday afternoon.

MASON CITY – Around 4:30 PM Thursday evening, a high speed chase was going on in the rural areas of north Cerro Gordo County.

Iowa State Troopers and Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Deputies, as well as the Clear Lake Police Department, worked together to try and stop a red pick-up from getting into Clear Lake.  The truck was driven by Travis Bailey, 43.

The chase was out by Highway B20. He was seen throwing something out his window on 315th Street. He drove through a field into the yard of B20 Auto. He took the officers onto Hickory, Heather and Grouse Avenues. Speed was said to be 85-90 mph. He went over stop sticks on Grouse and still proceeded to Highway 122 by way of the ball park. He then hit another set of stop sticks near Interstate 35 and Kum & Go in Clear Lake, causing a flat tire.

Once on Highway 122, they chased him by the airport and he eventually pulled into Brakke Implement, causing an accident.

At the scene, a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff patrol car and Iowa State Trooper patrol cars were damaged.

Bailey was tazed and taken into custody. Medical assistance was called, but refused. Later, medical attention was once again called for the Bailey.

Many officers were investigating and searching the truck after the chase ended.

Bailey was arrested and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and charged with a litany of offenses.

I can summerize from Airchair Captain’s assertion of child abuse why he is no longer a “High School English teacher”.

He stabbed his brother with a sword a few years back. Then he was a teacher until he got convicted of child endangerment. So mommy and daddy thought he would fit best at MC Harley as their resident child abuser.
