Plymouth woman arrested a second time for embezzlement

MASON CITY – A Plymouth woman was arrested Thursday on charges of 1st degree theft.

Julie Ann Fingalsen, 42, was allegedly involved in an embezzlement scheme at Dr. Michael Heston’s Optometry office, Mason City police said.

After an extensive investigation that began earlier this month, evidence was gathered that implicated Fingalsen in the embezzlement of over $40,000 from the business between February 2011 and September 2012.

Fingalsen is being held in the Cerro Fordo County Jail on $10,000 bond.

First degree theft is a class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.

Mason City Police indicated Thursday that this was Fingalsen’s second arrest involving embezzlement.

In 2009, Fingalsen was arrested and plead guilty to stealing over $20,000 from her former employer Dr. Gregory Shirk.

this is shit. if u get caught with pot. u do jail time. if u steal from a business or rich person . u get a slap on the wrist. marijuana is not bad, hence its legal in 7 states. but thiefs r OK. weird

For medical use, yes. Not for you to lay around and bake your brains out all day.
Although, probably too late for you.

This is what happens when employers are afraid of getting sued by the employee if they tell what they think or suspect about employees when they are called for job references. Unless one has unequivocal proof of theft, such as videotape or a paper trail, one can’t make an accusation or say a word about one’s suspicions. All an employer can do is tell the employee not to use him as a reference.

Plead guilty to theft two years before he hired her. The Doc should do a little homework before he gives his money away.

True. Just Googling her probably would have helped.

Ever heard of a background check, doc??

My guess would be the $$$$$ end up at the casino!

Wrong

How does this woman keep getting a job? And good jobs at good facilities too??? WTH

I heard she got caught stealing $$$$ from 3 other clinics in Mason City as well. WTH ?

Guess that little slap on the wrist is not enough punishment! Feel sorry for her family 🙁

Doctor my eyes have seen the light. HA!

When does our judicial system stop being so easy on these people and throw them in prison and send a strong message. It’s way to easy to take money that does not belong to you and only get your hand slapped in our society. What wrong with this picutres?

How the hell do you steal from a doctors office. When just about everything is through insurance. I see prison time. Unless she gets Judge Weiland.

Now come on. She is just mis-understood. Give her another chance. I really thought Heston was brighter than that.
