An Iowa City man was arrested Thursday night after police said he fired a BB gun on the pedestrian mall and hit a woman.
Edward Alandus Massey, who has a lengthy criminal history in Iowa, was reportedly firing a BB gun about 6:30 p.m. on the mall when he “intentionally or by mistake” shot a female in the ankle, causing her pain, according to a criminal complaint.
Massey told an officer that he hit her by mistake, according to the complaint. He was arrested on suspicion of simple assault, and was released from the Johnson County Jail.
Massey’s criminal history includes assault, drug, driving, and alcohol crimes.
