William Smith, The Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa –
An Arkansas man allegedly slashed and stabbed his former girlfriend with a knife Tuesday and was arrested Friday when Burlington Police located him.
Elenzie Cortez Brown, 22, of Oceola, Ark., was arrested for willful injury. The arrest stems from an incident that reportedly happened in an alley in the 500 block of South Central Avenue Tuesday night, when officers were flagged down by the female victim. The woman allegedly had a laceration near her right eye, as well as 11 other lacerations on her body.
The woman told police she had been dating Brown for about a week, and she told him she wanted to break up with him.
She said Brown became upset and took out a knife and cut her face, and then stabbed her in the back several times. She was able to identify her alleged attacker to police, but they had no luck in finding him until Friday.
The woman was taken to Great River Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
