Bar offers “free rides to and home from bar”

MASON CITY – The troubled Alley Katz bar, which is routinely in the local news, is back there again.

An NIT reader sent in a picture of an unusual offer the bar is making.

According to a sign on the front door, the bar is offering “free rides to and home from bar.”

There was no word on if anyone had taken them up on the offer.  An NIT reader said the sign wasn’t there Monday.

The sign was still there late Tuesday night.  The bar was all lit up and vibrant, but only one older gentleman was inside, sitting at the bar.  A bartender was inside leaning on the bar, pushing buttons on a cell phone.

City Hall in Mason City recently told the bar’s ownership to reduce the frequency of police calls to the establishment or face losing its liquor license.

“everybody just wants to have fun without the po po getting air in their chest.”

Exactly what does this statement mean?

A service like this has always been offered at Alley Katz, free rides to the county jail have been provided for months.

Round trip to Detroit and back is gonna be spendy!

But once this establishment redefines itself, throws out the trash and develops a decent customer base this service will go a long way to further their success.

Best wishes toward that end.

But it is a good business move, everybody just wants to have fun without the po po getting air in their chest. Cause this is about all they know how to handle, and can’t even do that in a correct manner.

The street punks have all moved to Clear Lake. Maybe after the word get around the Alley Katz will have a chance to succeed. People will hear about it in a positive light as it could be a nice place to go and socialize. It has always had potential except parking is a issue. It won’t be long until Clear Lake has had enough and puts the run on them. The Lake depends on the tourist and if the tourist can’t go somewhere without being threatened they just won’t go there.
