Steve King: Leftist Media and Humane Society Spread Lies

From Congressman Steve King:

Think Progress, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and other national leftist organizations intent on spreading lies, recently took video out of context from a Livestream Townhall and added a misleading and false title. Congressman King fully understands the horrible nature of dog fighting and in no way condones it. He was simply making a comparison that Think Progress and others have decided to cut from the video to spread lies – something they do on a daily basis.

“The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has long attacked me with outright lies because I have exposed and opposed their anti-meat agenda,” said King. “They are now using surrogates to perpetuate lies about dog fighting to advance their political agenda to take meat off of our tables. The reason for their hyperventilation is the amendment I added to the Farm Bill that effectively blocks their nationwide anti-meat agenda.”

I read the congressman’s response and I agree with his stance. He commented that dog fighting is already a federal crime, which would make attending one a crime, and would also make it a crime to bring a child to a dog fight. The ads against the congressman are purposely misleading, and the previous posts are at best, ignorant of the facts. (I hope it is ignorance and not dishonesty.)

I am a republican but this congressman Steven King is an embarrassment to the party, the united States Congress and his state of Iowa. This issue had nothing to do with the eating of meat for the HSUS
but the common sense idea of promoting compassion and decency in our children. Shame on him and anyone who votes for him.

How do we keep electing men like this with zero leadership? He showed his true colors by speaking off the cuff so candidly and instead of being accountable for his ignorance, he lies about the Humane Society. I looked at the tape, went to the Hunane Society’s website and studied their so called agenda which has zero to do with not eating meat. It infuriates me that some of our elected politicians think the American people are so stupid that the politicians can lie and misrepresent decent groups that advocate for the innocent…..animals that have no voice. This guy should be defeated by a decent and intelligent leader that can truly represent Iowans. My guess is that King gets huge wads of cash from big corporate agribusiness and dies a great job representing their needs, but not the people who elected him. Same old same old.

He wasn’t taken out of context. There is no context that makes any sense. I would like to remind Mr. King that, not only do pit bulls get torn apart in the ring (dogs that get treated like garbage – having rescued one I found pregnant on the street – I’ve learned a lot about what people do to them) but, if you have no feeling for them dog fighters steal people’s pets (or pick up their lost pets) and other defenseless animals as bait animals. To get them to tear them apart and try and get them excited. Dog fighters are SCUM! I had a neighbor who raised fighters. He would take a pit bull puppy and train him – he would stand around parks where other dogs were and try and get his dog to react and get aggressive. This is so infuriating…….Mr. King – you are a fool!

Steve King is the worst of the worst of politicians! Regardless of your political party, you need to know what your candidates stand for. Women, do not expect this man to look out for your interests! He’s not a friend to you either.

I’m a Republican and I don’t like this guy’s record on animal protection issues. I have looked for the entire video to see how this was “taken out of context”, but I haven’t been able to find the entire video. He put his foot in his mouth by not saying that human and animal fighting are equally reprehensible. I wrote to him and told him he has lost my support. He just hasn’t come up with a good enough explanation for me and he hasn’t apologized for the way he said it. I swear his parents never let him have a pet as a kid.

This creep is a disgrace to Iowa and it’s good people!

If Think Progress and others have decided to cut from the video to spread lies, then why isn’t a link to the video provided so we can see for ourselves. I am active in animal rescue. I would welcome an opportunity for Mr King to come and help us clean up and rehab a fighting dog. Maybe he could help care for an 8 week old puppy who’s ears are infected because they were cut off with scissors and then chained up outside with a huge heavy chain around his neck that will make him stronger.

Yep, another lying congressman. I don’t think for a second that the Humane Society of the United States took time out of their day to fabricate something to make him “look” bad. Boxers & UFC guys & gals choose to get in the ring & fight, dogs don’t. Sickening, this guy is a puke for condoning it.
