From the Mason City Police Department –
On 08/02/2012 at approx. 5:28 p.m. members of the Mason City Police Department, along with members of the North Iowa Narcotics Task Force’s Special Operations Group (S.O.G.), Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Office assisted the United States Marshall’s Fugitive Unit, in executing a Search Warrant at 505 North Delaware, Mason City, Ia.
The U.S. Marshall’s had a Federal arrest warrant for 25 year old Levi James Andersen, originally from Mason City, for Probation Revocation regarding weapons charges. The original charges dealt with firearms and explosives, and Andersen was considered Armed and Dangerous by the U.S. Marshalls. When officers arrived at the above residence they identified themselves several times, and requested that Andersen come out of the house several times. After several minutes passed and Andersen refused to come out the S.O.G. Team made entry into the residence where they located Andersen hiding in the basement in a crawl space.
The U.S. Marshall’s immediately took Andersen into custody and transported him from the scene.
There is no bond on the Revocation warrant.
NOTE: Another man had been arrested, handcuffed and was sitting in a Mason City squad car while a hour and a half standoff took place for Levi Anderson. The man in the car was identified as Adam Ramon.

Lotta overkill for a kid who flunked his pee test. Too bad he didnt get the help he needed before prison. A good kid who keeps losing his way.
I’m proud of the police for getting involved & not sitting around being lazy on this one. Just one complaint – This guy has NO BOND, while the jackass that murdered Ian Decker got bonded out. Hmmm…. Makes no sense.
Once a loser, always a loser. He will never change and has been on this path since he was in high school. He stole speakers from us in broad day light, his friends narked him out. Had it all set up to “buy back our own speakers” with the police in on it and the little punk got scared and didn’t show up. Lock his @ss up for a long time.
All I can Say is Thank You Mason City Feds and everyone who helped. My sisters and Little kids play on the streets of mason City. To see more effort going to getting these people of the streets, makes me a very happy mother.

It’s too bad it had to go down this way for Levi. He was shown the criminal life from an early age by his father. I sincerely hope he learns his lesson and chooses the right path whenever he gets the chance again.

I am so proud of our mason city police dept. And all who were involved in this stand off and all the others they are involved in. With out them trying to clean up are town, where would we be. They put their lives on the line everyday and more so during the situations. I thank them all and their families,for what they give us everyday. It’s not an easy job and I commend them for doing it. We are always hearing the negative,never the good they do. God bless every single one of them and a big thanks to all of you. From one greatful mason city citizen. THANK-YOU AND GOD BLESS THE LAW ENFORCEMENT IN MASON CITY. FOR MAKING US ALL SAFER.
You are absolutely right! Those brave men and women put thei lives on the line every day and in this situation could have easily been shot! As Albert Eintein said- “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”

And I thought Mason City was one boring town. So here’s my business idea.
1. Buy a used Grey Line tour bus from Chicago or New York.
2. Install a police scanner.
3. Sell tickets. Load the bus. Wait for the nightly action to begin.
(Frequent beverage stops at Northside Liquor. Maybe get some of the gangs to pose for pictures and give autographs.)

Why was the narcotics task force there if the charges were firearm and explosives related?
The members of the Narcotics Task Force are trained in other areas than narcotics to assist in situations like this. They specialize in narcotics.

Oh what a negative comment about our city! There is nothing here that a little downtown “sculpture walk” won’t cure (new Sculptures on Parade idea). Now you may have to dodge some stun grenades here and there but no worries art could be the answer we’ve been looking for.
The crooks will use Robin’s sculptures for cover at the next standoff. What a dolt.
