Cyclones To Play In Junkanoo Jam

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball will play in the Junkanoo Jam on Grand Bahama Island, Nov. 23-24. The Cyclones will play in the Freeport Division of the tournament.

The Cyclones will open tournament play Friday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m. (CST) against Loyola Marymount. The Lions, who finished 8-22 in 2011-12, return their top three scorers from the season, including Alex Cowling, whose 22.2 points per game led the West Coast Conference and ranked 10th nationally.

In the second game of the tournament on Saturday (Nov. 24), Iowa State will face Tulsa or Illinois at 11 a.m. (CST).

This will mark Iowa State’s second appearance in the Junkanoo Jam. The Cyclones finished 1-1 at the tournament in 2005-06, beating North Florida and falling to North Carolina State.

Iowa State’s complete 2012-13 schedule will be released at a later date.
