This weeks Feature Racer was Point Leader, Stock Car driver, Larry Portis. Portis drives the Hot Pink, #59, Stock Car at the I-35 Speedway on Sundays and at Britt on Friday nights.

Dan and Michaela Dohlman live just down the block. They like to walk up to the OP on Wednesdays, with their children Drayce who is three years old and Axel, who is nine months old, to see who the Featured Driver is for the night.

“I like the Hot Pink one,” said Drayce, who let NIT take his picture, with his father, in front of Larry Portis’s car.  Alex didn’t seem too interested; he seemed content just relaxing in the stroller.

Inside the OP, it was getting close to 6:30, air time. Larry looked a little nervous. Once he started, he handled it like a pro. “Time really goes fast. We always have a lot to talk about and we have fun,” said Portis.

Portis had a lot of followers that cheered him on too. He was asked if a round was on him, “No, but my boss said he’d buy a round,” joked Portis, “He isn’t even here.” Although, Larry was joking, people who know Larry are probably wondering if he charged a round to his boss anyway. Next time you see him, go ahead ask him, I will.
