Man accused of shooting 2 women, attempting to ram cops with SUV

William Lee, Chicago Tribune –

Authorities accused a man of trying to ram Chicago police officers with his SUV after they say he shot his girlfriend and her sister in the South Shore neighborhood.

Maurice Boston, 41, is expected to appear before a judge later today, charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer and aggravated battery, police said.

The incident began when Boston wounded his girlfriend and the woman’s sister at a home in the 7800 block of South Saginaw Avenue early Monday, police said.

Officers tried to stop Boston’s Cadillac Escalade a short time later near 81st Street and South Phillips Avenue, but Boston tried to strike the officers with the vehicle, authorities said.

One of the officers fired a shot, but didn’t strike anyone, police said.

Boston then led police on a several-mile chase that ended in the 9300 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, where he was arrested.

Boston’s girlfriend was treated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound to her left leg and released, while her sister declined medical treatment, police said.

The suspect has dozens of arrests and various felony convictions dating back to the 1980s, as well as a pending drug case in the southwest suburban Bridgeview Courthouse, according to court records.
