Matt Peterson, Austin Daily Herald, Minn. –

Two Minnesota men are in the Mower County jail for allegedly blocking a driver’s path and smashing his hood and windshield with a chain.

Preston Ray Bain, 21, of Waseca and Christopher J. Heimsness, 38, of Rochester, are both charged with felony intentional damage to property of more than $1,000. Bain pleaded not guilty on Friday. Heimsness will make his initial appearance on July 12.

According to the court complaint, the victim immediately drove his ‘98 Chevy Camaro to the Law Enforcement Center in Austin and reported the vandalism. The victim told officers both men were sitting on a trailer in the 1800 block of Fourth St. NE and drinking beer and blocked the victim’s path when he tried to drive past. An officer went with the victim to locate the suspects and arrested both Bain and Heimsness. Bain gave a preliminary breath test of .178, and Heimsness registered .115.

Though the victim is OK, his car sustained more than $4,000 worth of damage to the windshield and hood, according to the complaint.
