USA Today: Clear Lake has top beaches

CLEAR LAKE, IA: Clear Lake is home to two top beaches according to USA Today. Clear Lake’s City Beach and Clear Lake State Park Beach were both mentioned in the publication’s Memorial Day weekend Travel feature, “51 Great American Beaches.”

“It is very rewarding for Clear Lake to be recognized at the National level for our fabulous beaches,” said Libbey Patton, Director of Tourism. “A lot of effort has been made to maintain quality, family-friendly beaches.”

Last summer, the Association for the Preservation of Clear Lake purchased a beach cleaner that screens out trash, rocks, weeds, and animal droppings. The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce donated $5,000 toward the purchase of the cleaner, and the rest of the money was raised by the APCL through additional donations.

The playground equipment, picnic facilities, bike-path access, and special features like the downtown splash pad are other highlights to the Clear Lake beach experience.

Clear Lake’s event schedule, including popular upcoming summer events like Thursdays on Main and the biggest and best July 4th Celebration, is available online at, or you can download the free Clear Lake mobile app for Android and iPhone.

But if your beloved one are actually injure whilst within just remedy technique nike free run womens of the particular household good care factory,

Rufus, you are right, in the past…..

Let’s see now about the clear project that has been done and what it does for the Lake. It looks like it is turning out pretty good!

However, the DNR drained the Ventura Marsh and left thousands of carp layining in the bed of the marsh and said, that is cool, they will decompose and we are cleaning the lake. Then they warned the public that leaving a carp on the shore of the lake was not leagal and was littering. The DNR is on both sides of the fence here. The tax payers of Cerro Gordo county should charge the DNR for Littering using their own logic.

Peter, It must be hell living in that depressed body you have. I have never seen you post anything positive here!

I know NI Today said 2 top beaches, but the headline posted here from USA Today clearly states, “51 great American beaches.” (I am pretty sure that USA today didn’t visit every beach in the country Peter.) They just listed 51.

Why do you live in Clear Lake Peter? If you are not happy there, come to Mason City, we would welcome your tax dollars.

Or, if you want to freelance, drive across the country and find a couple of beaches better than the ones listed in USA Today. That should keep you busy.

The sand must be the only part of the beach the USA Today look at. Test the water. It wasn’t all that long ago when warnings were issued to keep humans out of lake. Maybe the adjective “clear” confused the USA Today writer.

All the more reasons to keep the hog confinments and chicken houses away from this area. Let Hancock county pollute and kill there lakes and rivers.

Interesting. I live in Clear Lake, and I pass by one of the mentioned beaches quite frequently. In ALL OF AMERICA? Really? This little stretch of sand and water is considered in the top 51? Hmmm. Sorry, it’s nice to see Clear Lake mentioned in National News, but I’m going to have to say frankly that I’m not buying it.

They picked one in each state. Not sure where the exta one is but maybe a US territory or DC.
