Dexter, IOWA — Last night Mike Beeler, 21, of Menlo, Iowa was arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide due to intoxication (B felony), Vehicular Homicide due to recklessness (C felony), Leaving the Scene of a fatality accident (D felony), Criminal Mischief (Aggravated Misdemeanor), and OWI 1st. He is being held on $25,000 cash bond in the Guthrie County Jail.
Yesterday morning, April 14, 2012, at approximately 4:45 AM deputies with the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at 3448 330th Trail, Dexter, IA in reference to a deceased white male laying in the gravel road in front of the residence. The victim has been identified as Justin Westfall, 23, of Menlo, Iowa.
During a party at the residence located at 3448 330th Trail in Dexter, Westfall was run over by a tractor being driven by Beeler.
Assisting the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office is the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The Iowa State Patrol and the Stuart Police Department also provided assistance with this investigation.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and all suspects are innocent unless and until proven guilty.
