DAVENPORT, IA — On March 23, 2012, Eldonte Lamar Kirk, age 26, of Davenport was sentenced to 160 months imprisonment for possession of cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine, with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge Robert W. Pratt also ordered Kirk to serve 5 years of supervised release following his imprisonment and to pay $200 to the Crime Victims Fund. On October 24, 2011, Kirk entered a guilty plea in federal court to both charges.
In June of 2011, Kirk engaged officers in a high speed pursuit, driving from Muscatine to Davenport and reaching speeds of up to 125 mph. The pursuit ended when Kirk crashed into two vehicles stopped at a traffic light. Police seized 10 grams of crack cocaine and a loaded .38 caliber revolver from Kirk’s vehicle.
This case was investigated by the Muscatine County Sherif’s Office, the Davenport Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
