A 73 year-old woman arrived home to find a man sitting on the stairs leading to her apartment along Fairways Circle in the Silver Springs Shores community (the Yellow Condos). This was around 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012. At one point the woman agreed to get the man a glass of water and as she turned go into the house, the suspect forced his way into the home. The victim told Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives the suspect hit her repeatedly. During the attack the suspect threatened the victim with a knife. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
Right now, MCSO detectives are searching for a clean shaven, black male who has a thin body and stands about 5-foot, 5 inches tall. The suspect is believed to be 27-33 years old, has dark skin and at the time of the crime, he was wearing a stocking cap (similar to a Do Rag). The victim said the suspect was wearing dark pants and a dark shirt that looked like work clothes or Dickies.
“We want to find this suspect,” said Judge Cochran, Marion County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office. “This was a violent crime involving a deadly weapon.”
The victim said she had never seen the suspect prior to the attack. The suspect was last seen running across the 17th fairway towards a park near Silver Road.
