2012 Top Projects named by Sukup Manufacturing Co.

SHEFFIELD, Iowa – Two projects in Iowa and one in Ontario, Canada, have been chosen 2012 Top Project Award winners by Sukup Manufacturing Co.

The projects and the dealers who sold them were recognized by the company during the Jan. 13-19 dealer sales incentive trip to the Hawaiian Islands.

Devolder Farms Inc. of Dover Centre, Ontario, won the Top Project award for the Bob and Rob Walker project in Merlin, Ontario. The site features six 36’ diameter bins and one 36’ heavy-gauge drying bin. (See top photo, at right.)

The Top Dollar project went to North Central Millwright/Buresh Building Systems of Hampton, Iowa, for the Gold Eagle Cooperative in Corwith, Iowa. It features four 105’ diameter bins and a tower dryer.  (See second photo.)

Dakin-Ag Equipment Inc. of Boone, Iowa, won the Dealers’ Choice Award for the Dave Henderson Farm project near Story City, Iowa. It has six commercial bins — one 57’ in diameter, two 48’, one 45’ and two 42’, all with side discharges, centrifugal fans and power sweeps. (See bottom photo.)

“There are many spectacular sites that have a lot of Sukup products,” said Diane Hughes, sales director for Sukup Manufacturing Co.

Dealers enter the Top Project contest by sending in photos of the Sukup products they sold and/or built. There are three categories of competition: Top Dollar, which recognizes the project with the highest dollar value of Sukup equipment; Dealers’ Choice, which is chosen by dealers voting at the biennial sales incentive trip; and the Top Project, which is judged by Sukup staff based on photo quality, overall site quality, and proper installation of products.

Overall Top Project finalists are chosen from each of the company’s six domestic sales territories and from international entries to compete for the overall prize.

Fifty-three entries from 24 dealerships were submitted for the 2012 Top Project contest, according to Nicole Poock, advertising director for Sukup Manufacturing Co. Projects completed between Dec. 1, 2009 and Nov. 30, 2011, were eligible for nomination.

“It was a tough decision to choose the best. Our dealers are doing a great job of putting up quality sites,” Poock said.

Voting by dealers during the 2012 sales incentive trip to Hawaii determined the Dealers’ Choice Award winner.

Winners of the Top Project and Top Dollar awards received lodging upgrades in Hawaii. The Dealers’ Choice winner received a tablet computer.

Dealers and owners of the projects named as finalists are given framed photos of their sites.

“The dealers enjoy it because – who doesn’t enjoy getting recognized for the work they do, and it helps them sell future projects,” Hughes said.

The photos provide site layout ideas for other dealers, builders and potential customers, Hughes added. “They get site design ideas.”
