Charity basketball game to be held Tuesday night at the Mohawk gym

MASON CITY – The Mason City Mohawks’ and North Butler Bearcats’ JV & Varsity Girls’ Basketball teams will square off inside Mohawk Gym tonight 6:30 p.m. The Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge has provided a platform for both teams to play a regulation pre-season game, with all proceeds donated to United Way of North Central Iowa.

This game is a white out! Wear your LIVE UNITED Game Shirt, which will be available for sale at the game for $10, and get in free! Tickets will be sold at the door, $5 per adult, or $3 per student. Bring one non-perishable food item per person, and receive $1 off admission. All non-perishable food items donated will benefit the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, or can be donated to the North Butler Food bank. The Mason City Mohawk Danzers and Pep Band will both be performing at the game as well.

The Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge is a statewide community service initiative providing a wonderful opportunity for these north central Iowa schools to come together and have a positive impact in Mason City. Not only will all proceeds from the game be donated to the local United Way, but both teams will be participating in a community service project. Both Mason City High School & North Butler High School will be eligible for statewide recognition, and a chance to receive 1 of 5 $500 grants for most outstanding community service project in the state. Mason City High School was a recipient of this grant in 2010.
