At 7am Friday morning two dozen or so locked out workers at United Sugar were gathered around the tents outside the plant on Mason City’s North edge. Group spokesman Tom said the company made a new offer. The new offer was the old one minus the $2000 signing bonus. Little else was known about the meeting that took place yesterday between company and union officials and they are still waiting for more information. When asked about company management doing the work inside the plant the feeling was that there was also scab workers brought in likely Somali people from the Minneapolis area. |
