The North Iowa Area Community College Charles City Scholarship Committee will host a Las Vegas themed dinner, “20 Years of Winning,” the 20th annual scholarship fund-raising event on Thursday, September 8, at the NIACC Charles City Center.
The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The menu includes rumaki roulette, seafood risk (bisque), royal beef tenderloin with mushroom and wine sauce, garlic mashed jack potatoes, vegetable gratin, fresh tomatoes dressed with basil, pepper and olive oil and chocolate chips cheesecake garnished with raspberry and mint.
This year’s featured entertainment will be Elvis impersonator Billy Wolfe.
Generous donors have provided a variety of items available for auction at the event. Featured items include a trip to Las Vegas, a gourmet dinner for eight at the home of Chuck and Jann Davis, a weekend at Diamond Jo’s Casino in Northwood, an Oregon wine basket, a Las Vegas basket and NIACC Performing Arts tickets with premiere parking.
Scholarship committee members involved in the planning are Roxanne Barrigan, Bruce Cannon, John Guthart, Jayne Stowe and Ann Troge.
Proceeds from the gourmet dinner benefit the Charles City Area Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $40 per person, and seating is limited. Tickets may be reserved by calling the NIACC Foundation at 1-888-466-4222, ext. 4386.
The Charles City Area Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to students attending North Iowa Area Community College either on the main campus or at the NIACC Charles City Center. The scholarships are awarded to applicants at least 18 years old, living in Floyd County and/or within a 20-mile radius of Charles City, and enrolled part-time (up to 11 semester hours of college credit).
Over 100 local students have benefited from this scholarship fund, which is made possible through the support and generosity of local businesses and community members.
