Supervisors ok driveway, hold public hearing on fairgrounds subdivision

The Cerro Gordo County Supervisors met Tuesday morning and OK’d a new driveway for a rural Cerro Gordo County resident. They also held a public hearing regarding a subdivision that is being created at the North Iowa Fairgrounds.| The Cerro Gordo County Supervisors met Tuesday morning and OK’d a new driveway for a rural Cerro Gordo County resident, Michael Dick. The variance was approved due to what they perceived as substantial investment on the property, located near the North Iowa Landfill.

Supervisors OK’d the pruchase of a Suburban from Schukei for $36,310 after a deal with Pritchard Auto fell through for $36,563.

Supervisors also OK’d a deal with Larry Elwood Construction to replace windows on the Courthouse annex building directly west of the Courthouse for $3,450. They also OK’d a deal with Kramer Petersen Builders to scrape paint for $800.

There was a public hearing held regarding a subdivision that is being created at the North Iowa Fairgrounds. The subdivision is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of 4th Street SW and Eisenhower Avenue and is 128.27 acres.

The subdivision is being undertaken to simplify the legal description of the fairgrounds, to provide land for future right-of-way extension and to create a development parcel.

Cerro Gordo County, on behalf of the North Iowa Fair, requested approval of the Final Plat for Fairgrounds First Subdivison, which the Mason City City Council approved at its July 19th meeting.

The Supervisors held the public meeting to finalize the deal and for public input on the matter. No one spoke at the public meeting, and the Supervisors OK’d the deal.

Supervisor Bob Amosson was absent from the meeting for undisclosed reasons.
