DES MOINES – Cities in Iowa are fully engaged in the process of redrawing precinct boundaries due to changes in population made official by the 2010 Federal Census. Cities with wards are also reviewing and adjusting ward boundaries to ensure that city wards are as equal in population as possible.|DES MOINES – Cities in Iowa are fully engaged in the process of redrawing precinct boundaries due to changes in population made official by the 2010 Federal Census. Cities with wards are also reviewing and adjusting ward boundaries to ensure that city wards are as equal in population as possible.
After new precinct and ward boundaries are approved by city councils, they are submitted to the Secretary of State’s office for approval. The deadline for cities to submit these materials to the Secretary of State is September 1, 2011.
