NIACC Student Senate Members Help with Project at Four Oaks

North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Student Senate members are asking North Iowans to assist with a much-needed service project at Four Oaks in Mason City. Four Oaks is a residential treatment center that provides services to children ages 5-12 who have emotional and behavioral issues. They generally spend a year there.

NIACC Student Senate members are seeking donations to help them renovate bathrooms in the residential units at Four Oaks. Students will be accepting items and cash donations April 4 ñ 7 on the NIACC campus. They will also accept donations at a drop off site at Wal Mart. Students will have a table at both entrances on April 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“NIACC Student Senate members chose to partner with Four Oaks for one of our spring community service projects. Our group recognized that we could help create a more home-like atmosphere for the kids who live there,” said Olivia Krull, NIACC Student Senate Communication Officer.

“Monetary donations received will be used to purchase paint and amenities for the renovation,” said Krull. Supplies such as rubber shower mats, soap dishes, towels and tooth brushes will also be accepted for this project.

For more information or to make a donation, please contact Lisa Jahnel, NIACC Student Senate advisor, at (641) 422-4419. Donation boxes will be set up on the NIACC campus Monday through Thursday, April 4 ñ 7.
