The City Council will discuss a “dangerous alley entrance” next Tuesday at Council comunication session.|The City Council and Mayor will discuss a “dangerous alley entrance” next Tuesday at a Council comunication session.
Council member Max Weaver put the issue on the agenda. The alley entrance to be discussed is west of Washington Ave. on First Street NW, between Wells Fargo and Pittsburgh Paints.
According to letters written to City Administrator Bent Trout, there have been issues at that alley entrance, and people have brought them to Trout’s attention. One person wrote to Trout “this entrance poses a risk to those vehicles attempting to turn either east or west onto First Street N.W.”
Another person wrote “This is not your ordinary alley” due to all the entrances to businesses off the alley. He also raised legal issues if the city doesn’t act. “As long as there are just fender benders at tis intersection the city will probably not get sued. The first time someone is killed, the city will get sued, and will lose because of its negligence and prior knowledge of this dangerous alley entrance.”
