On 3/11-2011 members of the Mason City Police Department;s Criminal Investigation Division arrested Rory Lauren McClendon, age 20, for the armed robbery of Midtown Kum & Go at 418 S. Federal on February 27, 2011.
At Approximately 12:24 AM on the 27th, Mr. McClendon entered the Kum & Go and demanded money from the store clerk while he displayed a weapon. The clerk gave McClendon the cash out of the register and McClendon then fled the store with the cash and attempted to flee on a bicycle. The bicycle broke and he continued to flee on foot.
It is believed that Mr. McClendon acted alone during the commission of this crime.
The MAson City Police Department received several tips from citizens in the days following the robbery which ultimately led to this arrest.
McClendon was charged with 1st degree robbery which is a class “b” felony. He is current;y being held on a $25,000 dollar bond at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.|
