New resource for Iowa small businesses

IDED Announces New Small Business Online Resource; assists small businesses find resources|February 16, 2011 (Des Moines) – A new online resource launched by the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED) is aimed at helping small businesses locate financial and technical resources. The Iowa Small Business Assistance Gateway, a result of Iowa legislation passed last year, contains information on registrations, certifications, permits, plan reviews and other requirements. In addition, the website directs users to small business webinars, meetings and articles related to small business in Iowa.

The new online resource is designed to support economic development and growth for small businesses. Information on the site is targeted to:

– Those considering starting a business
– Those ready to start a business
– Those running an established business
– Those who would like to expand their business
– Those with companies outside of the state who want to learn about specific advantages of doing business in Iowa

“The Iowa Small Business Gateway serves as a portal or a centralized point of access,” said Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development. “Through this site, small businesses can connect with the vast amount of resources and assistance they need in a more consistent and customer-friendly manner.”
