Cerro Gordo County Woman Wins $15,000 Lottery Prize

DES MOINES, Iowa ñ A Cerro Gordo County woman won the top prize of $15,000 playing the lottery’s “Triple Diamonds” instant-scratch game.

Denise Hanson from Plymouth claimed her prize Tuesday at the Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Mason City. She purchased her winning ticket at Hy-Vee Gas, 1503 Fourth St. S.E. in Mason City.

Triple Diamonds a $2 scratch game. Players win a prize by matching any of “your numbers” to either of the “winning numbers” to win the prize shown for that number. If players find the “triple diamond” symbol, they win triple that prize instantly. The overall odds of winning in the game are 1 in 3.75.

One prize of $15,000 is still up for grabs in Triple Diamonds as well as 13 prizes of $270.

Since the lottery’s start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.6 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $1.2 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds in Iowa have three main purposes: They provide support for veterans, help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund, and backing for the Vision Iowa program, which was implemented to create tourism destinations and community attractions in the state and build and repair schools. |
