The North Iowa Bicycle Underground (NIBU) will be holding bicycle polo games every week at the North Iowa Fairgrounds.
Beginning Monday, January 31st at 7 PM and continuing each Monday until the weather improves, the club will meet at the Olson Building to play bike polo.
Eric Follmuth, a co-organizer for the NIBU, told NorthIowaToday.com that “the fairgrounds will let us use the Olson building for $25 on Monday nights. That just covers the cost of electricity, we don’t need heat.”
Follmuth says the event is open to the public, and the $25 cost to the club “would be divided between everyone that shows up. Should only be a dollar or two per person, to play.”
Players should bring a bike that is “not your fanciest bike, since it could get whacked by a mallet” as well as shin guards, a helmet, and any other safety equipment. “We have some mallets,” Follmuth says, but players should also try to bring one if they have it.
“It’s great exercise, and everyone is just there to have fun and be active,” according to Follmuth.|
