Trouble on South Van Buren

Burglary, shots fired, arrests on South Van Buren in Mason City|On 11-14-2010 at approximately 11:10PM, Mason City Police were called to the area of the 800 block of South Van Buren for a disturbance with possible shots fired.


Upon investigation, officers found that shots had been fired from the residence of 803 South Van Buren Ave., and that the residence of 803 South Van Buren had been burglarized while people were in the residence following a fight in the street.

Harold Stinnet Jr., 20 years old, of Mason City has been arrested and charged with second degree burglary (class C felony) and disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanor).

Stinnett is being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $10,000 bond for the charges.


Jay Barrientes, 44 years old, of Mason city, has been arrested and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon (class C felony) and disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanor).

Barrientes is being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $10,000 bond for the charges.

More charges may be pending in connection with the incident. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and Mason City Fire Department assisted the Mason City Police Department with the incident.
