MASON CITY – NIACC seems intent on going forward with construction of a regional fire training center on NIACC farmland on Highway 122 just west of the main campus. A public meeting is scheduled to address concerned neighbors.

Some neighbors that will be affected by the construction of the training center have expressed frustration at the manner in which NIACC is moving ahead with the project.

On November 5, NIACC President Debra Derr mailed a letter to some Mason city residents explaining the need for the training center.

The letter also states “we realize neighbors of NIACC may have some questions about this project.”

Included in the letter is a number to contact NIACC’s Director of Facilities Management, Tony Pappas, and a “Frequently Asked Questions document.”

A public meeting for concerned citizens and NIACC will be held Wednesday, November 10 at 6:00 pm in Room 100 of the Administration building on the NIACC campus.
