MASON CITY – A Ruby Tuesday restaurant is being constructed on the former site of the Hanford Inn, on Mason City’s west side on Highway 122. The Hanford Inn was quickly demolished and the new eatery was going up even before the Hanford Inn debris was completely removed from the property.
To add to the good news about Mason City’s newest restaurant, a new hotel is being planned for the adjacent area. According to Brett Schoneman, broker for Schoneman Realtors, GMAC: “Initial plans are to involve the opening of a 192 seat Ruby Tuesday and a three story, 87 unit Holiday Inn Express. The remaining land consisting of almost 2 acres will be offered for sale. Mason City is extremely excited to have attracted two large, national brands such as Holiday Inn Express and Ruby Tuesday. Mason City serves a market area of 40 miles and over 130,000 loyal retail shoppers and Medical Center patients. We welcome the businesses and appreciate the new employment opportunities. Retail positions are often the first jobs that younger people have and every little bit helps.”
If the weather cooperates, Ruby Tuesday should open later this Fall.
