California artist to be at MacNider Museum Friday

MASON CITY – Please join the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum in welcoming California artist Linda Vallejo to Mason City on Friday, April 20, during MacNider: Off the Clock from 5-7 p.m. She will be available to speak to visitors one on one and to answer questions about her artwork. Vallejo’s solo exhibition, A Prayer for the Earth, is currently on display in the Museum’s Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery. Free wine and appetizers will be served throughout the event, and there will be live instrumental music by Cody Fedeler. Visitors can mingle with friends and neighbors as they explore the galleries and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the MacNider.

Then on Saturday, April 21, celebrate Earth Day with Linda Vallejo when she gives a talk at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum at 1 p.m. She will be discussing the motivation behind her artwork and the creativity she puts into each piece. Her work encompasses a vision of nature’s beauty, a concern for our threatened environment, and a sense of the natural world’s sanctity as taught by indigenous peoples around the globe.

Both MacNider: Off the Clock and the artist talk are free and open to the public. Please contact the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum @ 641-421-3666 for more information. A Prayer for the Earth will be on display in the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery through June 23, 2012. This exhibition is sponsored in part by the David & Phyllis Murphy Charitable Foundation.

The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is located at 303 Second Street SE in Mason City. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Thursday. For more information about the exhibition and the Museum, visit www.macniderart.org
