ST LOUIS — Following a 5-1 week, UNI softball picked up a pair of weekly awards from the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). Samantha Heyer won MVC Pitcher of the Week and Alexis Pupillo won MVC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
IOWA CITY – University of Iowa freshman Ben Kueter has been named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the league office. The honor is the first of his career.
MASON CITY – The NIACC softball team is ranked No. 15 in the NJCAA Division II poll released this week. NIACC (5-3 overall) was ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll released Jan. 22.

MINNEAPOLIS – The #6 Iowa Hawkeyes will hit the road for the final time in the regular season at Minnesota on Feb. 28. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. (CT) inside a sold-out Williams Arena. The contest will air on Peacock (subscription required) and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
AMES – Yonger Bastida has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday. It is the third Big 12 weekly honor of Bastida’s career and the fourth time this season a Cyclone has been recognized.

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa National Player of the Year candidate, Caitlin Clark, earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors the conference office announced on Monday. She has earned weekly honors a conference-best, nine times this season.
CEDAR FALLS – UNI men’s basketball will close out its 2023-24 home schedule on Tuesday night as the Panthers welcome the Valparaiso Beacons to the McLeod Center in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play.
DES MOINES – UNI women’s basketball traveled to Drake to take on the Valley’s top-ranked Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. Drake jumped out to a hot start, but the Panthers clawed their way back as the two teams traded blows down the stretch. The Bulldogs came out of the slugfest on top by a score of 79-77.
STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The fourth-ranked University of Iowa men’s wrestling team defeated No. 2 Oklahoma State, 22-9, on Sunday afternoon at Gallagher-Iba Arena. This was the Cowboys’ first loss of the season.
IOWA CITY – No. 4 Iowa (24-4, 13-3) dropped Illinois (13-13, 7-9), 101-85, inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday afternoon. Caitlin Clark, registered her 16th career triple-double and the fifth which is the best in the country.
AMES – No. 5 Iowa State (13-2, 6-1 Big 12) dominated a limited No. 7 Missouri (10-4, 6-3 Big 12) lineup, 41-3, Sunday afternoon inside Hilton Coliseum.

CEDAR FALLS – The University of Northern Iowa has unveiled additional conceptual renderings of its new wrestling training facility. Fundraising for the project has been ongoing since UNI received permission to plan the training facility from the Iowa Board of Regents in November 2023.
INDIANOLA – The second-ranked University of Iowa women’s wrestling team had all 15 regional participants qualify for the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships on Friday at Simpson College. Iowa also claimed the Region V title accumulating 220 team points in the tournament.

ATLANTA, Ga. – Iowa State men’s basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger has been named to the 2024 Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List. Otzelberger is one of 15 coaches across the country named to the list, including three from the Big 12.

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE – UNI softball picked up its first road win of the 2024 season in grand fashion on Wednesday evening, spoiling Memphis’ home opener with a 7-0 victory over the Tigers. Samantha Heyer starred in the victory with a 14-strikeout no-hitter.
HOUSTON, TEXAS – Audi Crooks scored 25 points and Iowa State assisted on more than 76 percent of its baskets en route to a 76-64 win Wednesday evening at the Fertitta Center.
MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore Eli Anderson was selected as the ICCAC Division II baseball player of the week for the week of Feb. 12-18.
