Dr. George J. Daskalos, 91, passed away on March 3, 2023 in Florida of complications from pneumonia. George was born November 28, 1931 in Mason City, Iowa to Helen (Pappajohn) Daskalos and John Daskalos. George graduated from Mason City High School and attended NIACC before continuing his education at the University of Iowa where earned a degree in dentistry.
Shirley Hansen, 88, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Shirley was the epitome of what it meant to be a dedicated farmer’s wife, a devoted mother, an endearing grandmother, and who could cook like no one else.
Three-time NCAA champion Spencer Lee and Real Woods are top seeds at 125 pounds and 141 pounds, respectively. Tony Cassioppi is the No. 4 seed at 285 and Patrick Kennedy is the No. 6 seed in his first NCAA Tournament at 165.

Judith “Judy” Hiveley, 80, of Charles City, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Lynelle Roberts, 68, of Lakota, Iowa, died March 3, 2023, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Lynelle was a member of First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center.
