FBI, Iowa State Patrol and local deputies investigate brash burglaries to ATMs, banks, homes and businesses in Grundy county

DIKE – Grundy county law enforcement is investigating brash burglaries to numerous locations, including ATMs and banks.

On January 5, 2022, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a residential burglary in progress in Dike. When the deputy arrived to investigate the burglary, he found the rear door to the residence kicked in and evidence that someone had entered the home.

While investigating this crime, the deputy was alerted to a burglary at Fidelity Bank in Dike. While investigating the bank burglary, deputies were called to a city-owned shop in Dike to investigate a burglary there. During the burglary to the city owned property, a city maintenance truck was stolen, which was later recovered, abandoned.  During this investigation, deputies were called to the Peoples Savings Bank in Dike for an attempted break-in of the outside ATM.

Additionally, deputies were also alerted to burglaries to Delta McKenzie Targets in Dike and to the Reinbeck Memorial Building. Police say investigation shows that all these crimes are related.

No money was missing from either ATM. The only items taken during these crimes was some petty cash and liquor from the Reinbeck Memorial Building.

The sheriff’s office seeks the assistance of the public of any video footage from the early morning of Wednesday January 5th 2021 from 4:30 AM to 6:30 AM, in the areas where these crimes took place.

The sheriffs office was assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Iowa State Patrol.
