Minnesota man dead in Worth county auto crash

WORTH COUNTY – A Minnesota man died in an auto crash this week in Worth county.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on October 9, 2021, at about 6:50 AM on Interstate 35. At the 218 mile marker, 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by 21-year-old Tristen Brevik of Hanover, Minnesota, was northbound when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. It struck a parked Freightliner semi on the right shoulder, with 51-year-old Michael Cox of Kansas City, Missouri, inside.

As a result of the collision, Brevik was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Worth County Sheriff, Northwood Fire And Rescue, and Mason City Fire.
