Iowa’s Delta virus surge, striking down children more and more, owned by Republicans, Senator says

DES MOINES – An Iowa Senator minced no words in placing blame on Republicans for sick children across the state, stricken with the dreaded Delta virus.

Senator Zach Wahls told Iowa Republicans, “You Own the Delta Surge. Stop gambling with our children’s lives. Start following the science. We need to listen to public health experts and epidemiologists, not Republican politicians and horse de-wormer salesmen.”

His full statement reads:

Iowa Sen. Zach Wahls (D)

COVID isn’t going away because Kim Reynolds and Iowa Republicans aren’t doing anything to make it go away. Our return to normal continues to be pushed further and further into the future because Republicans continue to fail to do anything to stop the spread of the Delta variant.

The Governor and the Republican legislature have made clear: they own every missed class, every canceled football game, every missed day of work caring for a sick child, every closed business. The Iowa Republican ban on local communities following public health advice was a mistake. And rather than learning from their mistakes, Iowa Republicans are gambling with the safety and health of Iowa children. They are doubling down on a bad hand. They own the Delta Surge.

Governor Reynolds, you can make a big difference in Iowa’s fight against COVID. Stop telling Iowans what to do and just let Iowans make their own decisions about the health and safety of their local school children, and their communities.

If we have learned anything about the fight against COVID-19, it’s that one-size-fits-all policies don’t work. We need to listen to public health experts and epidemiologists, not Republican politicians and horse de-wormer salesmen.

We need to allow local school leaders to save Iowa lives, especially with a new variant that is more contagious and more deadly to children. Senate Democrats will support Iowa communities and schools that democratically decide to follow the science in the fight against COVID.

Governor Reynolds: stop gambling with our children’s lives. Start following the science.

This is the kind of bogus crap we have learned to expect from the Biden administration, the CDC and the left wing media. The truth is the communist Marxist democrats want a perpetual pandemic so they can continue their quest to have government control over everything we do, especially voting.

Maybe someone that voted for this guy can tell me if he is special needs? He says:

“Governor Reynolds, you can make a big difference in Iowa’s fight against COVID. Stop telling Iowans what to do and just let Iowans make their own decisions about the health and safety of their local school children, and their communities.”

    ???

Governor Reynolds IS allowing Iowans to make their own decisions regarding this disease (that has a 0.26% fatality rate in the general population and a 0% fatality rate in school aged children). It is people like Zach that are trying to control others with their unfounded ideals and refuse to listen to licensed medical professionals. Please stop voting for people like Zach.

If it is true, then why doesn’t the gov let schools and communities make the decisions about whether to wear a mask? Because she is a trumper, that is why.

Schools and communities DO have that freedom. You CAN wear a mask if you want and you don’t have to wear one if you don’t want to. That is freedom. The opposite of freedom is a mandate which is what Zach is wanting. Why do you want to be told what to do by a politician that has no marketable skills in the private sector, is minimally educated, and definitely has no business offering medical advice?!?!?

P.s. What do politics have to do with this at all?

Our schools regulate the dress of students every day. What is one more required item? School boards are supposed to reflect the views of their community. If they decide masks should be required, that is the community’s decision, not the governor’s. The right is all for local decision-making until it interferes with their agenda.
The right has made this a political issue by their refusal to work for the public good. This disease is once again overwhelming our health care facilities. I have never understood the Republican idea that health care should be an individual decision. If that were truly what they wanted, then they would make health care affordable but the past administration did nothing on that even when they controlled both the Senate and the House and the Presidency. Health care isn’t a right but it certainly should be attainable by everyone.

What schools around here regulate dress? Do you know the efficacy of wearing a mask against corona virus transmission? Which healthcare facilities around here are at capacity? What percentage of patients in these healthcare facilities are there because of Corona? If any healthcare facilities have capacity issues, what departments have these issues and is it a problem with facilities or labor availability? How does current healthcare facility usage compare with historical averages? Infectious disease experts have noted that some individuals seem to be ‘super spreaders’ of Corona virus while others don’t seem to shed the virus at all (BTW, children fall into this latter category). Should we identify these ‘super spreaders’ and put them in encampments?

Every school regulates dress. Look at page 19 of MCHS student handbook.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1neo82zEx9XfE8RxKImkYeAfoA4lfz3l4/view

I have a feeling you need to learn how businesses work before spewing the Democratic rhetoric of “overwhelming our health care facilities”.

Hospitals don’t make money unless the beds are full, that is FACT. When Covid came knockin, all these places hired personnel and expanded with BIG dollar signs in their eyes. They had to cancel all their bread and butter elective surgeries (there went the profit margin), and then they had all these extra people on the payroll and all these empty beds.

A little time goes by, they start cutting hours, then flat out laying off. Well, the staff still need to put bread on the table, so they took other jobs. Then here comes the second wave, healthcare facilities are shorthanded, because they laid off everyone possible to maintain a profit margin. Nurses and CNAs are covering maximum number of patients already, so, there are many wings/halls/rooms shutdown. The facilities being overwhelmed is their own fault, for listening to the Fraudster Fauci.

The only way the facilities will get workers back, is by paying outrageous wages plus perks. Then who can afford to use the services?

Democrats are smarter than that. Most of the hospitalized are unvaccinated, non believers in Covid. They should have declined to go to the hospital because they are taking up space from people who really need to be hospitalized.

Your so full of shit. Most of the hospitalized are obese, don’t exercise, don’t eat even semi healthy. These are the reasons, otherwise seemingly healthy people, have weakened immune systems.
These are the reasons that people end up in the hospital.

As your brethren say so often, “Just follow the science.” They have been talking diet and exercise for almost 2 years.

Oh, I forgot, it isn’t the narrative right now, “MASKS OR YOUR A DENIER” is, silly ol me.

        Liberal morons.

where did you hear that bs? ask a nurse or a doctor or someone else who works in a health care facility instead of relying on some crap you heard on youtube or from Fox ‘News’.

            FROM the CDC
(The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Similar to adults, children with obesity, diabetes, asthma or chronic lung disease, sickle cell disease, or immunosuppression can also be at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

            https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-with-medical-conditions.html#:~:text=Similar%20to%20adults%2C%20children,from%20COVID%2D19.

From the WHO (World Health Organization )

Eating a healthy diet is very important during the COVID-19 pandemic. What we eat and drink can affect our body’s ability to prevent, fight and recover from infections.

While no foods or dietary supplements can prevent or cure COVID-19 infection, healthy diets are important for supporting immune systems. Good nutrition can also reduce the likelihood of developing other health problems, including obesity, heart disease, diabetes and some types of cancer.

What is your point? We have a large number of children in this country who eat unhealthy food and lack proper nutrition in their homes? They are expendable? That is pretty cold and callous. A majority of them are also minorities. Could that also be one of your selling points? Covid kills people. That is what you should be concerned with.

Jackwad wanted sources, Jackwad got sources.

If YOU had a brain, you would probably take it out to play with it, and lose it with the mouse shit on the floor.
I NEVER said ANYONE was expendable, but you being a good Democrat, has to make shit up.

I don’t know if as YOU say, “A majority of them are also minorities.” And like the total LOSER (Read WOKETARD) you must be, you have to accuse me of being racist. ” Could that also be one of your selling points?”

Yes, Covid kills. One of the BIG things that the majority of the kids that have been hospitalized/died from Covid have in common is morbid obesity.

SO, racist little prick, go back into your doghouse and wait for your patch kit for your inflate a date.

The average age of a covid death is HIGHER than the average life expectancy in this country. Use your critical thinking skills and ponder: just how deadly is covid, really?

I understand that you are probably president of your local MENSA club, and I am also sure you received your A in the Condescenion class at Trump U, but you are still a foolish person. Learn some humility – you might gain a friend because I imagine you don’t have many now.
