Judge Rustin Davenport gives another child molester probation

Judge Rustin Davenport

CHARLES CITY — Iowa Judge Rustin Davenport, who has a history of going easy on child molesters, let another one off with probation recently.

Aaron Wells, age 24 of Mason City, was arrested last year in Floyd county, charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child – both under age 10. Wells pleaded guilty to two charges of lascivious acts while the two charges of sexual abuse were dismissed. Judge Rustin Davenport gave Wells suspended prison sentences and probation. Davenport even suspended $2,000 in fines.

Rustin Davenport caused an outcry in 2018 when he let child molester Tawny Symonds off with probation after she molested a little girl. She was accused by police of molesting a girl under 3 years of age in her daycare and was sentenced by Rustin Davenport to just probation for her heinous, despicable deeds.  She’s working in Mason City at a gas station, now.

Rustin Davenport was on the general election ballot in 2018 for retention on a 6-year term.  He will be on the 2024 general election ballot, the courthouse told NIT.  Voters will decide whether he should still be a judge or perhaps be ousted from his job.
