Drought conditions in Iowa have Clear Lake water levels down

Clear Lake, Iowa

CLEAR LAKE – Drought conditions in Iowa have Clear Lake water levels down, according to city hall.

“As we move into the heart of summer in Clear Lake, many folks are asking about the water levels on the lake,” city hall in Clear Lake said via a statement.  “As of today, we are about 6 inches below the outlet elevation and about a foot below our ‘the lake is full’ water level. Drought conditions are prevalent across much of North Iowa and the greater Midwest area that is causing lake and stream levels to be below normal in much of our region.”

The USGS has a long term monitoring station for the water level of Clear Lake that can be accessed here.  Questions about the lake level, aquatic vegetation, or the work being done to protect and enhance the lake can be found at www.clearproject.net.
