One person hurt and Clear Lake man cited after auto accident Friday outside Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE – One person was hurt and a Clear Lake man cited after an auto accident Friday outside Clear Lake.

The accident took place Friday, June 25, 2021 at about 9:36 PM, when Cerro Gordo county deputies were called to the roadway at 300th Street and Jonquil Avenue to investigate a vehicle collision with injuries. It was determined that a 2003 Ford Ranger being driven by David Frederic Poppy II, age 45 of Clear Lake, was traveling westbound when he crossed the center line and struck two vehicles that were traveling eastbound. The two vehicles were a 2009 BMW 328i being driven by Grand Benja Rogers, age 27 of Mason City and a 2017 Hyundai Sonata being driven by Dakota Kay Davis, age 24 of Mason City. Rogers was transported to the MercyOne Emergency room with minor non-life threatening injuries by the Clear Lake Fire Department.

Poppy was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway, a simple misdemeanor.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Clear Lake Fire Department.
